Ascension Koller Behavioral Health offers a monthly Mindfulness program in Rhinelander that is free to anyone in the community.
“Mastering Emotions” is the featured program for April and will be offered on Thursday, April 12, from 5-6:30 p.m., and Tuesday, April 17, from 1-2:30 p.m. Both sessions will be held at Ascension Koller Behavioral Health, 1020 Kabel Avenue in the 2nd floor conference room. Advanced registration is not required.
“Not handled well, emotions can distract and disturb our perceptions and keep us from the actual moment we are experiencing,” said Kathy Mitchell, MA of Ascension Koller Behavioral Health. “Participants in this program will learn to use the energy of emotion to enhance awareness and well-being.”
Ascension Koller Behavioral Health also offers the Riverside Meditation Group. In April, the meditation group will meet on Thursday, April 5, and Thursday, April 19, at 5:30 p.m.
Riverside Meditation Group is an opportunity for anyone with a meditation practice to have regular group support. There are two twenty minute seated meditations with either walking meditation or Qigong in between. The meditation model is silent and still with occasional guided meditations. At the end a short talk focusing on enhancing skills of mindfulness and meditation. The Riverside Meditation Group draws from western psychological mindfulness teachings, philosophy, literature, and poetry.
