Name: Wolf Tracking Immersion
Date: February 20, 2022 - February 26, 2022
Event Description:
Dive deep into Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest for Teaching Drum Outdoor School’s annual Wolf Tracking Immersion course. By day, learn to read a pack’s story, written in the sign it leaves behind. Tracks in the snow reveal movement patterns around kill sites. Tufts of fur, bones, bloodstains, scat, and scent markings paint vivid scenes. Tune in to the sights, sounds, and smells of the forest around you. Evenings will be spent in the Giant Pine Lodge, listening to stories from wolf experts, as well as sharing your own. Our guides have been tracking wolves and other apex predators of the Headwaters Wilderness area for more than a decade. They will share the history of this area’s wolf packs with you, take you deep into their territories, and set you on their fresh trails. COVID-19 Protocol: This course welcomes participants who have an up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination status. We will spend considerable time in enclosed spaces such as vehicles and gathering rooms.
