Name: By Request - a Benefit Concert
Date: November 7, 2021
Time: 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM CST
Event Description:
A benefit concert for the Foundation Fighting Blindness will be presented on Sunday, November 7 at 7:00 pm at the Campanile Center for the Arts in Minocqua. Laurie Timm will be performing a vocal concert to raise funds for the VisionWalk, which is the biggest fundraiser for the Foundation. Accompanying her on piano will be Kate Buffington. Also, playing on guitar, will be Peter Nomm, along with members of Double Barrel. The Foundation Fighting Blindness just celebrated its 50th year. It is the leading non-government entity in the world whose sole purpose is funding research for treatments and cures for inherited retinal diseases (IRDs) which often cause blindness. Laurie’s reason for supporting the Foundation is personal. Her husband, Ken, has inherited Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP). It was passed along to two daughters and two grandsons. RP is only one of the many diseases under the scope of the research being funded. The concert is titled “By Request”. Laurie will be singing songs requested by various people. Songs include folk, jazz, classical, pop, rock, country. Admission will be strictly by donation with all proceeds going directly to the Foundation Fighting Blindness. Any donation, large or small, is welcome. Doors will open at 6:30. The direct link to Laurie’s Fundraising Page for the VisionWalk is: give.fightingblindness.org/SingForACure
